Welcome
“On this, the rock, I will build my Church, and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it.” ~Christ Jesus; Matthew 16:18b [Greek]
“Christ loved the church and gave up his life for her, to make her holy and clean, washed by the cleansing of God’s word. He did this to present her to himself as a glorious church . . . .” ~Ephesians 5:25b-27a [NIV]
Saint Mark Church actively witnesses to the God of Trinity in the Batesville, Indiana community, the surrounding area, and throughout the world, by our Christian in-reach and outreach ministry and mission. Since 1897, our families and friends continue to worship, learn, partnership, and serve others together; as called by God’s Word and the Spirit into discipleship and stewardship.
As we observe the 500th year of the Reformation in 2017, it’s good to remember what Martin Luther did for the Church worldwide; living in Germany he spoke boldly for God’s Word and the continuing need for re-forming Christ’s Church. He was a promoter of civil liberty and religious freedom. In America, Luther’s principles have penetrated the whole social order. His defiance of deep-seated wrong, his willingness to stand with the minority or to stand alone, his prayerful interpretation of Sacred Scripture, his faith in home and school, his delight in being a pioneer . . . ALL makes him hospitable and inspiring to people everywhere.
